If you want nonstop service from Wichita to Dallas Love Field, you'll have to fly with American. Flights may be listed under their "American Eagle" subsidiary. The flight takes about an hour and a half and departures are available throughout the day, every day. United and Southwest have a limited amount of daily flights to Dallas from this airport, but the shortest of these all have a stopover of around an hour in either St. Louis or Houston.
Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport Departure Information
Be sure to arrange a ride to Dwight D. Eisenhower beforehand, as there is presently no public transportation serving the airport. Many different private shuttles are available that stop throughout Wichita. Uber and Lyft are also available for rides to the airport in Wichita as well as a variety of taxi services.
It also may be wise to get something to eat before hitting the airport. There are some options, but not a huge variety. At the airport you'll find a Dunkin' Donuts, Chick-Fil-A, River City Brewing, a bar with light pub fare, and a snack store.
Preparing to Arrive at Dallas Love Field
If you want to wait to eat, you'll find a much wider variety of options at Dallas Love Field. Quite a few fast food options are available as well as several sit-down restaurants.
The airport does not have a direct rail connection, but there is a DART station only about a mile away. A ride with a taxi or ride-sharing service is very inexpensive, and there is also a city bus called the Love Link 524 that specializes in ferrying passengers between the station and the airport. The Love Link runs all throughout the day every day of the week, only shutting down for a few hours overnight.
Car rental is available at the airport from most of the major chains including Hertz, Enterprise, Avis, Budget and National.
Things to do in Dallas
The second-largest city in Texas (and the eighth-largest in the United States) is sometimes associated more with business trips than tourism, but there's no shortage of fun things to do and interesting things to discover there.
Dallas is a necessary stop for American history buffs. The George W. It's also great for those traveling with kids. Good family destinations include Six Flags Over Texas, Adventure Landing, Sandy Lake, Dallas World Aquarium, the Dallas Zoo, the Fair Park Children's Aquarium and Texas Discovery Gardens.
If you're looking for nightlife, Dallas is also the regional hotspot. Some of the best neighborhoods and areas include Oak Cliff, Lower Greenville, Deep Ellum, the downtown area and Knox-Henderson.
It's also the regional mecca for shopping. Leading destinations include NorthPark Center, Shops at Legacy, Neiman Marcus and Highland Park Village. You might also want to check out the Dallas Farmers Market, the largest regular outdoor produce market held in the United States.
