Located off of Highway 28, just 10 miles south of downtown Columbus, Rickenbacker Airport is one of the largest airports in the Ohio area. The airport offers service from most of the major U.S. airlines including United, Delta, Southwest, and American Airlines. Rickenbacker provides internationals flights through a variety of connecting cities as well as non-stop, direct flights to a number of popular destinations. Some of these most popular destinations include Myrtle Beach, Los Angeles, Tampa Bay, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Savannah, and Jacksonville.

Additional airports in the area include John Glenn Columbus International located just east of the downtown area, Ohio State University Airport to the northeast, and Bolton Field just 8 miles from the downtown area.

If planning on seeing the many sites that the LA area has to offer, it is recommended that you rent a car as destinations are significantly spread out and can require long travel times.

Tips for Traveling to Los Angeles

Los Angeles is truly a destination for vacationers of all ages. For the young or just young at heart, there are many amusement parks including Disneyland, Universal Studios, Raging Waters, and Knott’s Berry Farm. The area is also home to world-class shopping and dining and is known for its diverse culture. Those who are in the mood for a relaxing vacation can take a day trip to one of the many beaches in the area such as Huntington and Seal Beach. If you are more interested in the nonstop nightlife, you can venture into one of the city's many music venues or take a stroll in North Hollywood and tour celebrity haunts and enjoy a variety of street performers.

A couple important things to note when traveling to LA are the weather and the traffic. While the weather is temperate during much of the year, summers can be extremely hot for those that come from cooler destinations. Car travel is almost necessary to see all that LA has to offer, but traffic can be extremely congested and made worse by significant amounts of construction. Try to plan your travels around peak traffic times and plan your route out thoroughly before departing. It is also important to remember that cell phone use while driving must be strictly hands-free and this law is heavily enforced. If you do not have a Bluetooth device for your phone pick one up before your trip.
