If you depart from Newark, you’ll have an even wider selection of shops and restaurants, all of which will be less expensive than at JFK. Likewise, though LaGuardia is the smallest of the three potential departure airports, the walls are thick with murals which you can enjoy to pass the time.
What’s At The Landing Terminal?
You’ll most likely be landing at Terminal B at San Jose International Airport, unless you flew with American Airlines, in which case you’ll be landing at Terminal A. Between Terminal A and Terminal B is the transportation hub, where you can rent a car, hop onto the Airport Flyer Bus which connects to other points of regional transit via rail, take the Metro Light Rail, hail a cab, or go to the rideshare app pool.
There may be a few traditional taxis remaining in San Jose, but most have been eaten up by the ridesharing giants. San Jose is in Silicon Valley, which is notorious for its poor public transportation and its driving culture, so you should rent a car or plan to spend a lot of money on ridesharing apps.
How Are Different Are NYC and San Jose?
New York City is extremely expensive, and it’s comparable to San Jose. The main difference that you’ll notice is the culture. People in NYC have many methods of transportation, whereas in San Jose people use their cars to get around. There are areas of downtown San Jose where you can use public transportation, however. There shouldn’t be much culture shock for anyone who is accustomed to New York City upon arrival in San Jose.
