The Airports in San Antonio and Dallas
San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is the primary airport in San Antonio and is located just eight miles north of the city center. SAT has two terminals and three runways. Southwest Airlines offers both nonstop and connecting flights to Dallas, although flights are not available every day of the week. All departing flights to Dallas will leave from Terminal A.
Dallas Love Field (DAL) is a city-owned general purpose airport located seven miles northwest of downtown Dallas. DAL has one main terminal and 20 gates. The airport offers numerous transportation options to the city. Take the City Shuttle, Super Shuttle, or Yellow Checker Shuttle to your destination, or prearrange limousine or ride-sharing services. Taxi service is also available on the lower level of the terminal, or you could choose to use public transportation provided by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).
Departing From San Antonio International
San Antonio International recommends arriving at least two hours in advance for flights departing before 7:30 am and at least 90 minutes before flights after 7:30 am. You must present a valid government-issued photo ID and your boarding pass at the security checkpoint. All travelers are required to remove outer garments and shoes and are screened via a metal detector or Advanced Imaging Technology. You may opt for a physical pat-down if you prefer.
