Three major airports serve Moscow: Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO), Domodedovo International Airport (DME) and Vnukovo International Airport (VKO). Of these, Domodedovo receives most of the international flights to Moscow and is a large, modern facility with one terminal offering a number of restaurants, shops, bars and services for passengers. All airports are less than an hour from Moscow and have a range of transportation options to the capital, including trains, buses, rental cars and taxis. All three airports are located outside of Moscow's ring roads, leaving little by way of sightseeing opportunities nearby, though they do have necessary services for travelers and a range of restaurant and hotel options.

Daytime highs in January usually linger in the 20s. Summers are often mild, with temperatures in the 70s, though the occasional heat wave can send temperatures higher. Visitors to Moscow in the winter need to remember to bring adequate warm clothing as Moscow's winter temperatures can drop well below zero. Rather than stay indoors during the winter, though, venture out and enjoy ice skating in the famous Gorky Park, where you can also admire ice sculptures or grab some hot tea in a cafe.

In July, Kolomenskoye, the grounds of a former estate on the Moscow River become the backdrop for an enormous music festival known as the Afisha Picnic.
