Attractions in Nairobi
One of the most interesting attractions in Nairobi is the Nairobi National Park situated right in the middle of town. You can see elephants, lions and giraffes within view of large city buildings and homes. If that’s not enough, David Sheldrick of the Elephant Orphan Trust and Giraffe Center gives a full day tour of his facility, which includes walking close to native wildlife, getting a chance to see how bead necklaces are made and visiting the Karen Blixen Museum. Drivers from the tour will even pick you up from your hotel. Visitors may also sign up for guided city tours to get an in-depth look at traditional Nairobi, its residents and local history. Each bus is unique and often embellished with lights and decorative upholstery. Eating out at a decent restaurant in Nairobi will cost about $35 for two people.
Because Nairobi is located near the equator, days and nights are almost of equal length. There are basically two seasons: wet and dry. Wet season usually begins in April or May and can run until October. During the wet season, it may be difficult to access areas that are only accessible by dirt roads. The rest of the year is warm but mostly dry with high temperatures in the 70s.
