Outside downtown Kalibo, there’s an entire province lush with tropical pleasures and monuments. In particular, there is a Freedom Shrine commemorating the United States’ liberation of the Philippines from Japanese occupation.

There are many beautiful parks in and around Kalibo, including the Bakhawan Eco-Park, which is a mangrove swamp style botanical garden unlike any other we’ve heard of here at Skyscanner. Complete with the characteristically murky waters and reaching tendrils of mangroves, the Eco-Park is considered a conservation zone, but you’re allowed to camp there if you’re interested in exploring the interior of the 500+ acres of land.
