McCarran typically isn’t very busy, so if you have some extra time, you can relax near the esplanade.

Arriving At Ontario International Airport

Once you touch down at Ontario International Airport, you should find yourself in Terminal 2. Considering that you’re in California, you should head to the car rental station and rent a comfortable car to weather the spillover traffic from Los Angeles that frequently clogs San Bernardino.

If public transportation is more your kind of thing, hop on the airport’s transit access shuttle, and you can make a bus connection. The bus will be inexpensive, but likely very slow and has an inconvenient schedule which is only loosely kept.

If you’d rather hop in a cab, you can do so right outside the airport. Be aware that the cab gets expensive very quickly due to the stop and go traffic that you’ll likely experience.

Welcome to San Bernardino County

In San Bernardino County, the road reigns supreme. San Bernardino County is the biggest county in the United States, and it’s even larger than smaller states like Rhode Island.

Though there are downtown areas, the county has a lot of sprawl, so expect to spend a lot of time in transit and a lot of money on gas. A conservative estimate is that you’ll require at the bare minimum half an hour to go from one spot in San Bernardino County to another, and don’t even ask about rush hour.

On the bright side, you’ll get picturesque views of the mesas and the desert almost everywhere you go.

Price wise, Las Vegas is considerably more expensive than the County, although the closer you venture to Los Angeles the more expensive food, drink, and lodging will get.
