Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport Departure Information
General Mitchell International has a direct connection to Milwaukee's GreenLine light rail line as well as Amtrak's Hiawatha line. A free shuttle bus makes the short trip between the airport and the rail station.
The airport has a number of dining options. The best of these are behind security: Vino Volo, Pizzeria Piccola, Leinenkugel's Leinie Lodge and Usinger's among them. If you want to eat in the main terminal you'll have a choice of Famous Famiglia, Quiznos, Starbucks, Northpoint, Miller Brewhouse and Valentine Coffee Roasters.
Free WiFi is available throughout the facility - look for the "Boingo" network. The first 60 minutes of access is free. $10 will get you unlimited access at the airport for an entire month.
Preparing to Arrive at Seattle's Airports
Just about all commercial flights from Milwaukee will be landing at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. It's about a 13 mile trip north from the airport to get to downtown Seattle. The best public transit option from the city to the airport is the Link light rail, which has a stop connected to the airport parking garage. UberX and Lyft are also available to pick up from the airport, though the Port Authority mandates a $5 fee be added onto the fare to do so.
Sea-Tac has a good variety of dining options, though expect prices to be a little inflated (as is standard at most American airports). Among the better options are Vino Volo, Anthony's Restaurant and Fish Bar, Beecher's Handmade Cheese, Lady Yum and Ivar's Fish Bar.
Free unlimited WiFi is available throughout the airport, at the cost of viewing a short video ad before connecting. If you need a quick phone charge before leaving, try to do it before you leave the secure area, as most of the seating at the gates has power outlets next to it.
Things to do in Seattle
Rain, strong coffee and rock music are the enduring images of Seattle. Though you'll still find all of those things in no small supply, there's a whole lot more going on than just that. For shopping and dining, the iconic Pike Place Market is definitely the place to start, but don't miss the International District, Capitol Hill and Columbia City. The Space Needle is the city's symbol, but the view from the Great Wheel is just as good. The nightlife hotspots are downtown, the neighboring Belltown and Georgetown, Ballard and Queen Anne. And if you want the best views of the city from ground level, definitely take some time to check out Gas Works Park.
