Washington, D.C. Airport Information

You may be taking a Washington to Cancun flight out of either Dulles International (IAD) or Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI).

There are more flight choices on this route flying out of IAD, with its 139 gates. This airport has five concourses and public parking for over 24,000 cars. In lieu of driving to Dulles International for your flight to Cancun, you can take the Metrorail/Silver Line Express Bus to the center of the airport terminal. Excellent retail shops, services, and restaurants are located on each concourse.

Traveling to Baltimore Washington Airport by car is also easy, with lots of parking options that include hourly, daily, express and long-term rates. Or leave the car at home and take the rail or bus to the airport via Amtrak, MTA Light Rail, MTA MARC, or various MTA bus services. There are five concourses at BWI, with shops, eateries, and bars. A Cardio Trail at the Main Terminal has two walking loops for those who want to keep fit while awaiting their flight. Each loop takes about 20 minutes to complete. There is also a gym on Concourse D where you can work out and take a shower pre-flight.

Terminals at Cancun Airport

There are three terminals at Cancun Airport, plus an FBO terminal for private jets. When your flight from Washington arrives at Cancun Airport at Terminal 2 or 3, you will go to the immigration reception area to show your passport and entry documents supplied by your airline or in this section of the airport. After the immigration check-in process is complete, you may continue on to baggage claim to retrieve your luggage. From there, you must go to customs, where your bags will be screened and your customs declaration form requested. After clearing customs, you can go on to the arrivals gate and secure your transportation to your hotel or resort, about a 25-minute ride away. It's best to pre-arrange your shuttle transportation to your hotel or car rental at the airport before leaving Washington.
