Camaguey’s cityscape is the result of Spanish colonial construction, as is made obvious by the many red tiled roofs and stucco walls. If you’re looking for the authentic Spanish colony experience, the Old Town is where you’ll find it.

If you’re into sports, check out the Camaguey Baseball Stadium, where there are games with cheap tickets nearly every day of the week. As far as other economical and unique things to do in Camaguey, the Camaguey Old Car Show is a winner for any auto fans. Though Cuba itself is rife with older cars, the ones in the museum are better kept.

Most visitors to Camaguey head directly for the beach communities on the outskirts of town, with some as far as an hour away. These resort towns use Camaguey as their hub for fresh fruits and vegetables and tend to be heavily tourist-oriented rather than authentically Cuban. If that doesn’t bother you, by all means, put on some suntan lotion and enjoy the coastline near Camaguey with the understanding that it might be a pricey cab ride back to your hotel downtown.
