For those interested in flights to Durango, Durango–La Plata County Airport (DRO) is just 15 miles away from the Colorado mountain town. Durango–La Plata County Airport
American Airlines and United Airlines provide daily flights to Durango–La Plata County Airport, which has just one terminal. You can also head to the Durango Trading Post where you can view and purchase Native American handicrafts and art. There's a dinner theater where you can watch a western show while enjoying your dinner. On one side of Vallecita Lake, you can find a resort and day spa where you can relax or take advantage of the opportunity for horseback riding.

Every January, Durango throws a five-day festival called Snowdown. The festival has a different theme each year, and attendees wear costumes to match the theme. There's live music, a costume contest, a parade, dances and other fun competitions such as ski softball, beer pong and eating contests, among others. The parade draws thousands of people each year.
In the downtown area, many people enjoy going to the local pubs and breweries. The Ute Casino Resort is where people can try their luck at the tables or slots. The cuisine choices are varied in Durango, and they include nouveau American cuisine, Himalayan, Southwestern food, steakhouses, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican and much more.
