The Airports in Detroit and San Diego
Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) is the main airport serving the Detroit area. DTW has two terminals and six runways. It is located 24 miles southwest of downtown Detroit. Eight airlines offer flights from Detroit to San Diego, including Delta, American Airlines, Frontier, Spirit, and jetBlue. Delta is the only airline at DTW that offers non-stop flights to San Diego and operates from the McNamara Terminal.
Two airports serve the San Diego area. McClellan-Palomar is used for general aviation, while San Diego International Airport (SAN) serves the general public. SAN is the busiest single-runway commercial service airport in the nation and is located three miles northwest of downtown San Diego. To get to the city from the airport, Amtrak Intercity and COASTER commuter trains operate every day of the year and offer transportation to several surrounding areas.
