Departing JFK

Once you’ve booked your flight and arrived at JFK, you’ll probably be making your way to Terminal 1, 7, or 8. JFK is lauded as one of the best passenger experiences in the US, and every terminal will have dozens of food and shopping venues, though you probably won’t be able to find a shower room.

Arriving in Dublin

In Dublin, you’ll fly into Terminal 1. To get to Dublin itself from the airport, you’ll need to hop onto one of the many buses in the transportation hub. If you get onto the Airlink Express 747 route, you’ll find yourself down town in less than half an hour. There are also taxis to hire if you’d rather not ride the bus; expect to spend at least $30 to get from the airport to downtown.

Dublin is characteristically rainy for most of the year, so be sure to pack an umbrella and perhaps a rain coat as well. Aside from the rain, temperatures tend to be moderate, but the city does experience all four seasons. Be sure to set your clock ahead by 5 hours to adjust to the local time.

Dublin isn’t as expensive as other European cities. You should expect to pay at least $20 per person for dinner, and $12 for lunch. Beer, while plentiful, is also a bit more expensive than you may be used to at roughly $7 per pint.
