Nashville International Airport Departure Information

Since the majority of the direct flights on the Nashville-Detroit route are with Delta, most passengers will be departing from Concourse B. If you're flying with Southwest or American, you'll be leaving from Concourse C.

Concourse B has less in the way of food than Concourse C, but it does offer the advantage of a Delta Sky Club lounge. In addition to Delta Elite Plus and Medallion Club Members, this lounge is available to anyone with a Platinum American Express card. Wendy's, Neely's BBQ, and Tennessee Tavern are the dining options here, along with various shops and a massage bar.

In Concourse C you'll find Auntie Anne's, Blue Coast Burrito, Burger King, Famous Famiglia, the Gibson Cafe, Hissho Sushi, O'Charley's diner, Provence Breads, Quiznos, Starbucks, Swetts and Whitt's BBQ. You'll also find wine and beer bars, a massage bar, shoe shine stations and a wide variety of shops.

The Main Terminal connects directly to both concourses and you'll have to pass through it anyway when coming from the parking area, so you can always stop off for something there too. You'll find a Freshens Smoothies, two Starbucks, Green Bean Coffee, and Tootsie's Orchid Lounge here.

Preparing to Arrive at Detroit Metropolitan Airport

Detroit Metro (also sometimes called Wayne County) is located near the southeast corner of the city. It's about 22 miles from downtown and the Detroit River. If you're driving, following Route 94 northeast from the airport will take you in the direction of downtown, and following it west will take you to Ann Arbor. Detroit does not have a rail or subway option to get into the city from the airport, but there are several buses operated by the city SMART system that link the two, as well as numerous private shuttle options.

If you're flying in winter, be sure to dress for the cold! Freezing days are not uncommon in Detroit from December to March. Summers are milder than they are in Nashville, but you won't get much of a break from humidity.

The cost of living is actually slightly higher in Detroit than it is in Nashville, but you'll likely see better deals on hotels there as there is less tourism and the real estate market is not nearly as hot.
