The Airports in Bogota and Medellin
Located just eight miles from the city center, El Dorado International Airport (BOG) is the primary airport in Bogota. BOG has two terminals, and all international flights will depart from Terminal 1. Multiple airlines offer flights from Bogota to Medellin, including Avianca, Copa, LATAM Satena, and VivaColombia. All of the airlines except Copa offer direct flights to Medellin.
The area of Medellin has two airports that accept flights from Bogota. The vast majority of flights will land at José María Córdova International Airport (MDE). MDE is the second largest airport in Colombia and is located about 22 miles from downtown Medellin. MDE has just one terminal with multiple transportation options to the city. Passengers can get to Medellin via bus, minibus, or taxi. You can also rent a car if you prefer. The average journey to the city is about 40 minutes. Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport (EOH) is the other airport serving Medellin and is located just two miles from the city center. EOH has one terminal. A short taxi ride is your best option for getting into the city.
