Finding cheap flights from Dallas to San Jose International: Frequently asked questions
When you fly from Dallas to San Jose, you’ll be moving from the bigness of Texas to the massive Silicon Valley, so get ready for a culture shock and a shock to your wallet. The majority of flights on this route depart from the gargantuan Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, although there are a few flights which depart from Dallas Love Field Airport.
What Airlines Fly This Route?
You’ll have your pick of the litter when you fly this route. You can choose between United, Sun Country Air, Spirit Airlines, Southwest, JetBlue, Alaska Airlines, Frontier, American Airlines, and Delta. Most stops have layovers, though there are a few direct flights for the lucky. A few unlucky passengers will have to sit through multiple connector flights.
What’s At The Departure Terminal?
That depends on whether your flight departs from Dallas Love Field or Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. DFW is one of the busiest airports in the world and is lush with features that travelers want and need, ranging from showers to a dentist. In contrast, Dallas Love Field is a small airport where it’ll be hard to find much more than lunch and a book from the newsstand, so plan accordingly.
What’s At The Landing Terminal?
San Jose International Airport has everything that you’d expect from a major airport, and there’s also quite a bit of good art in the form of murals and sculptures, but most of it is outside in the parking areas.
Speaking of parking, once you’ve landed at San Jose, you’re going to need a ride to your final destination. Your options are the 125 Bus, ridesharing apps, or renting a car, which we can provide some help with via our car rental tool.
Given our experience with the San Jose area and Silicon Valley in general, we strongly suggest renting a car for your time in San Jose. The Valley is a huge area, and things tend to be very far apart from each other, and not connected via public transit. You could use rideshare apps to get around, but the cost would add up very quickly, so a rental car is probably the best choice.
How Does Dallas Compare To San Jose?
Dallas and San Jose are similar in the sense that they’re both sprawling urban agglomerations with a number of closely associated urban areas and cities.
Culture-wise, the two areas are opposites. The kindly and relaxed pace of Dallas is nowhere to be found in San Jose, although you will find that buying a cup of coffee might cost you twice as much. The small town feelings of Dallas are nowhere to be found in Silicon Valley, with the dominant suburban sprawl and technology crazed citizens drowning out a real sense of place.
As far as culinary delights are concerned, Dallas and San Jose both have powerful Mexican cuisine scenes, so you’ll have to check them out at both ends of the journey and see which one is more authentic.
While you’re planning your trip, consider using our hotel finding tool to make your stay in Silicon Valley cheap and easy once you’ve landed at San Jose.
