Flying Out of Los Angeles International (LAX)
LAX is one of the busiest airports in the world. Make sure to get to there with time to spare. For domestic flights like Los Angeles to Philadelphia, get to the airport at least two hours before your flight. LAX recommends arriving earlier if your flight is during peak times, such as 6:30 to 9:00 am, 11 am to 2 pm, or 8 pm to 11 pm.
Los Angeles International has nine terminals. If you're flying American Airlines, you'll leave out of terminal 4 or 5. Spirit Airlines departs from terminal 5, while Virgin America uses terminal 6. All of these terminals feature a variety of restaurants and shops, and terminal 5 boasts a spa.
Philadelphia Airport Options
There are two airport options for flying into Philadelphia: Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Trenton-Mercer Airport (TTN). Philadelphia International Airport is located seven miles from downtown Philadelphia. Trenton-Mercer Airport is four miles from Trenton, New Jersey, and around 35 to 40 miles from Philadelphia.
Of the two, Philadelphia International is much larger, with direct flights available from LA on American Airlines and Spirit Airlines. Starting on September 1, 2017, direct flights will be available from Virgin America.
There are no direct flights from Los Angeles to Trenton-Mercer, although you can get a connecting flight from Frontier or Allegiant, the two airlines that fly from that airport.
Arriving in Philadelphia
Trenton-Mercer Airport has just one passenger terminal. For ground transportation, rental cars are available from National and Enterprise. You can take a taxi or limo from Trenton-Mercer to a train or other form of public transportation.

Another smart option for ground travel is the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority (SEPTA) Regional Rail Line. This train runs every half hour from the airport to the city center from 5:07 am until 12:30 am. Taxis, limos, and shared-ride vans are also forms of transportation available from Philadelphia International.
Weather and Time Zone Information
Los Angeles is known for warm temperatures and very little rain. By contrast, Philadelphia has consistent rainfall or snow throughout the year. Temperatures in Philadelphia range from 25°F in the winter to 86°F in the summer.
