In an exciting moment for American air travel, United Airlines have introduced daily non-stop flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Singapore’s Changi Airport (SIN). The first westbound flight was on 29th October, setting a new distance record for any airline operating a flight to or from the United States.
United’s existing service between San Francisco and Singapore, which began in June last year, previously held the record for the longest scheduled 787 flight operated by any airline. Both routes will now be operated with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
“Whether our customers are on leisure or business travel, United is making travel to Singapore easier and even more convenient than ever before and customers arriving to Los Angeles will have multiple opportunities to connect to hundreds of United destinations in the US, Canada and Latin America,” said Dave Hilfman, United’s senior vice president of United Airlines Worldwide Sales.
The airline is celebrating the introduction of the route by offering promotional fares that start as low as $177.

Convenient Connecting Flights at LAX
United has timed arrival to LAX from Singapore to allow travelers to add connections to more than 20 US cities. The airline has a long-standing and substantial presence at the airport, operating more than 130 flights to over 40 airports across the US, including popular business destinations like New York, Chicago, Denver and San Francisco.
“We are proud that United Airlines will set a new record for the longest nonstop route by a domestic carrier right here at LAX. This historic route to Singapore will bring more flights, tourists and economic growth to Los Angeles,” said Deborah Flint, CEO of Los Angeles World Airports. “United’s daily nonstop flight to Singapore will further strengthen LA’s cultural and economic relationship with Singapore.”
The Dreamliner for the Longest Non-Stop Flight Ever From the US
United’s 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on the longest non-stop flight from the US, will feature a total of 252 seats – 48 United Polaris business class, 204 United Economy, including 88 Economy Plus.
United Polaris business class, a reinvention of the airline’s international premium cabin travel experience, offers added comfort and service for a restful night’s sleep in the air.
United Economy included complimentary food, drinks and in-flight entertainment the almost 18 hours in the air. United Economy Plus offers up to five inches of extra legroom to stretch out during the journey. Located near the front of the economy cabin, the seats give the added benefit of allowing a swifter exit from the plane upon arrival.

Longest Non-Stop Flight in the World
Currently, the world’s longest non-stop flight by distance is Qatar Airways’ Doha-Auckland route at 9,032 miles. A close second is Emirates’ Dubai-Auckland route at 8,819 miles.
While United’s LAX-Singapore route is a shorter distance at 8,700 miles, it is perhaps the world’s longest by flying time. Facing typically strong headwinds on the westbound route over the Pacific Ocean, United’s flight in the direction of Singapore has a scheduled flying time of 17 hours, 55 minutes. That exceeds Qatar Airways’ published flying time of 17 hours, 40 minutes for the flight from Auckland, New Zealand, to Doha, Qatar. United’s eastbound return to L.A. is scheduled for 15 hours, 15 minutes.
The new Singapore to Los Angeles route is one of several ultra long-haul routes announced by United and other airlines during the last two years. Advances in the technology and fuel efficiency of a new generation of aircraft has allowed airlines to keep their planes in the air for longer.
