Located in the north of Albania, Shkoder is one of the most ancient cities in the Balkans and the fifth most populous city in the country. It's gots a touristy stip worth a stroll, a castle on a hill, and is influential in culture, religion, arts and entertainment of northern Albania. Don't miss Mes Bridge a few miles outside of the city.

Albanian border can take a while, so Shkoder is a great place to have a meal, get used to local people and cheap prices before going further. From here you can also visit the lake surroundings, eat great fish and do a variety of activities like kayaking or fishing.

Shkoder, Albania's second largest city, is bustling and urban yet still has a relaxed feel. It's beautifully situated at the foot of the Albania Alps and next to Lake Skadar, and has a number of interesting monuments, such as a statue of Mother Teresa, who was born in Macedonia to Albanian parents.

This pleasant town is undergoing a bit of a renaissance and appears to be well on the way to becoming a tourist destination. The mix of old architecture and religious monuments gives the city a number of worthwhile tourist sights; however, the real charm is the buzz of the city and the people watching. An excellent place to enjoy coffee or gelato and watch the world go buy.
