The Departure Airport You Will Use
McCarran is at 5757 Wayne Newton Boulevard. It is two miles from the Las Vegas Strip, but it is 15 miles from downtown Las Vegas. You can reach it from I-215, Tropicana Avenue, or Russell Road. There are 110 gates at McCarran, so you will need to know where you are going. American and Delta fly out of Terminal 1. The other airlines listed above fly out of Terminal 3.

Your Destination Airport
You will be flying into a very busy international airport. It has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 2 is the newest and has the most up-to-date security. Buses run between the two. You will find shops and duty-free stores, restaurants, cafés, bars, medical care, currency exchange services, ATMs and banks. Note that you must use pesos for most purchases in Mexico City. VIP lounges are offered by American Express, Centurion Club, Televisa, MasterCard, Lufthansa and HSBC.
You can rent a taxi 365 days a year, 24 hours per day. Be sure you are using an approved taxi. Avoid unmarked taxi cars. Many hotels offer free shuttles to and from the airport. What to Expect in Mexico City
You may have heard that you shouldn't drink the water in Mexico. In general, prices in Mexico City are 80% cheaper than Las Vegas prices. You can buy a breakfast for $2.00 to $4.00 and a lunch for $2.00 to $5.00, and a dinner for $4.00 to $9.00. These prices are for establishments that cater to locals. If you want an English-speaking restaurant, you will be eating in a hotel restaurant that will be much more expensive. Mexico has a subway system. The path to the subway is marked with signs from the airport. A taxi from the airport to the center of the city costs $5.00 to $17.00 depending on traffic. You will find Mexico City to have cooler temperatures than Las Vegas. Enjoy walking, but expect crowded pathways because food stalls are everywhere and this city of 21 million people is very much a walking city. You will encounter crowds at the food stalls that block your pathway.
The city is relatively safe. Police officers are on every corner downtown, and they are at every subway station.
Visit the Bosque de Chapultepec, the largest park in the Western Hemisphere. You can rent bikes in the park and spend an entire day exploring the bike paths.
