The Airports in Seoul and Taipei
Incheon International Airport (ICN) is the primary airport serving the Seoul Capital area and is the largest airport in all of South Korea. Located 30 miles west of Seoul, Incheon International has one main terminal and 44 boarding ports. The terminal itself is the largest in South Korea, featuring more than 250 check-in counters. Two airports serve the city of Taipei: Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA). Taiwan Taoyuan International is the primary airport for international travel in Taipei. TPE accepts the vast majority of flights from Seoul, including all flights from Gimpo International. Taiwan Taoyuan is located in the Dayuan District about 25 miles west of Taipei. TPE currently has two terminals that both accept arriving flights.
Getting to Taipei From the Airports
When you arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International, there are multiple transportation options to get to the city. The Taiwan High-Speed Railway is the fastest transfer to many of the urban areas. You could also take a taxi, bus, or hotel shuttle. If you prefer to drive yourself, you can rent a car.
Tips for Flying Out of Seoul
Incheon International Airport suggests arriving at the boarding gate at least 40 minutes before departure, so you'll want to add extra time for check-in and security. International travelers will arrive at the 3F Passenger Terminal, where you can check-in at the counter or at a self-service kiosk. You'll need to bring a valid passport and your boarding pass. At security, you will pass through a metal detector and may be screened by a handheld detector.
