Finding cheap flights from Chicago to Milwaukee General Mitchell: Frequently asked questions
Less than 100 miles north along the coast of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee has a lot in common with Chicago. Both share strong industrial roots and a love of microbreweries. But Milwaukee’s special character and slower pace of life make it an ideal spot to visit if you’d like a rest from the rush of the big city.
It’s a quick journey. You’ll only spend about 45 minutes in the air, but you’ll certainly want a direct flight. If you’re flying from Chicago O’Hare (ORD), you have two choices. United offers a whopping 86 nonstop flights on the route each week, and American has 34.
Making your way to Chicago’s airports
Chicago O’Hare(ORD) is often ranked as one of the busiest airports on the planet. Located 17 miles northwest of Chicago city center. In normal traffic the drive should take about 40 minutes, and there is a huge amount of parking available at the airport. O’Hare is vast, with 4 active terminals: 1, 2, 3, and International 5, so remember where you parked! If you’d rather take public transportation, you can catch the direct train link. It’s often faster than a car during rush hour, and fare is only $2.50. Take the CTA Blue Line, which runs between the Loop and O’Hare every 15 minutes. The trip takes just over half an hour and the train runs 24/7.
There is limited free WiFi in ORD. A small list of sites (about 30) can be accessed without paying. For unlimited WiFi, a daily fee of $6.75 is charged.
Arriving in Milwaukee
There’s a small set of stereotypes that come to mind when you talk about Milwaukee: beer, bratwurst, bowling, and polka music. All of those things remain central to the social scene and general working class charm of the city, but they are only the beginning.
Milwaukee has retained some gorgeous architecture, cherished its green spaces, and built up a strong cultural legacy. The Milwaukee Art Museum is stunning inside and out, with a 30,000 piece collection which rivals that of many larger galleries. The 114 miles of the Oak Trail loop through the city and its beautiful parks, inviting hikers, joggers, and cyclists to explore. Best of all, the continuous summer festivals fill Milwaukee with high spirits, music, and some of the best beer and brats in the country.
