Navigating Edinburgh International Airport (EDI)
With only one terminal and two floors, EDI is one of the UK’s least confusing major airports. Four check-in options--online, mobile, self-service and desk--make things even less stressful. Ryanair and EasyJet require online check-in, and the parking garage has a FastTrack bridge that allows expedited security access if you’re just bringing carry-on bags and have already completed check-in and have a boarding pass. .
If you’re flying British Airways or Flybe and prefer the traditional desk check-in, the airport recommends arriving at least 2 hours before your scheduled departure.
Use your extra time before boarding to relax at one of the airport’s bars or eateries, or browse some of the many shops. Jenner’s Department Store has a branch here, as does EAT with its signature hotpots and Turnhouse Bar for classic pub fare. Kids are happy with a Burger King meal and a comic or game from W.H. Smith.
Trade your Scottish banknotes for British pounds to avoid the hassle of doing it in London. EDI also offers free Wi-Fi, although it’s limited to 2 hours per device per day.
ID Requirements
You’ll need a photo ID to board your Edinburgh to London flight. Your passport will do, but some airlines don’t require it for domestic flights within the UK. Check your airline’s website for their policy.
