If departing from the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, it is advised that you arrive at least two hours before your scheduled flight time to get through TSA checkpoints and secure your boarding pass. For those who choose to fly out of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, you will find a much larger airport and added amenities. With the larger airport come longer lines at security, so it is recommended to arrive a minimum of two hours before your flight for even domestic service. Airline and Flight Options
If flying out of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway, you will only be able to choose flight service on Allegiant Air and will need to make a connecting flight to get to your final destination of Chicago. When flying out of Sky Harbor, you can choose from direct service on airline providers such as American Airlines, United, Southwest, and Spirit. Flights with one or two stops can be found on Alaska Airlines, Frontier, and Deltas as well.
Arriving in Chicago
On your arrival to Chicago, you will be flying into either Chicago Midway Airport or Chicago O’Hare. While the O’Hare Airport services more flights, both of the airports are large with multiple amenities to service your arrivals. Both airports offer multiple modes of transportation for your arrival including limousines, taxi, shuttle, and hired car service, which can be accessed directly at the exit. Both airports also provide easy access to multiple public transport options servicing Chicago and the surrounding areas, including the Amtrak rail service and El train. If you are in need of a car rental, you will be able to find multiple in-airport options at both locations with such popular brands as Avis, Hertz, National, Budget, Enterprise, and many more.
