The total distance between these major tourist zones of the south is 231 miles. While they both are classified under the same subtropical climate category, it should be mentioned that Houston lies close to the Gulf of Mexico, and is thus more susceptible to the humid marine air masses that move in from the coast. Dallas is prone to these as well, but typically has drier air.

Dallas/Fort Worth International is the central flight hub for American Airlines, which houses its headquarters nearby. The airport can be accessed from the south on State Highway 183, or by 114 and Interstate 635 from the north. There are a grand total of 5 terminals and 165 passenger gates at the facility, but it has the potential to accommodate to up to 13 and 260 respectively.
