Finding cheap flights from Chicago to Seattle: Frequently asked questions
The journey from the windy lakeside metropolis of Chicago to the mountainous landscape of Seattle is a considerable trek: a 30 hour trip, if you were driving. More than 2,000 miles separate these two great cities, and the average direct flight takes four hours and fifteen minutes in the air
American Airlines, United, and Alaska all have robust schedules of weekly nonstop flights between Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and Seattle. If you like, it’s also possible to catch direct flights from Chicago Midway Airport (MDW) to Seattle with Southwest.
Making your way to Chicago’s airports
Chicago O’Hare(ORD) is the largest airport in the state and a vital hub for the entire country. The four terminals, 1, 2, 3, and 5, all see a massive volume of travelers passing through on any given day. It’s wise to allocate some extra time in case of security backups. Public transportation offers a direct rail link between The Loop and O’Hare, which runs 24/7, and this can often be the fastest option, especially during rush hour. The CTA Blue Line leaves every 15 minutes, and the fare is only $2.50. You can expect the trip to take about 35 minutes.
Chicago Midway Airport(MDW) is a much cosier airport with a single terminal, and it’s also a lot closer to downtown. If you want to use public transit, you’re in luck, because MDW also benefits from a direct rail connection. Hop on a CTA Orange Line train from The Loop, and you can be in the airport in less than half an hour. It’s worth noting that once you get to the Midway Airport stop, there’s a walk of 10 to 15 minutes through a tunnel to the main terminal building.
