Atlanta has one airport that services the region, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, one of the busiest in all of the United States. It is located seven miles south of the city’s business district and 10 miles south of downtown.

Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has two terminals with a wide variety of food and beverage options, from fast food to restaurants and bars. There are a variety of shopping options from clothing to electronics for travelers looking to spend their down time at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport shopping. For travelers who prefer to spend their down time getting pampered, there are two spas in the airport, and for those looking to relax and get away from the crowds three different lounges are available at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport: Delta Sky Club, American Airlines Admiral Club, and a unique mini-suite rest area called The Club at ATL.

Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has free Wi-Fi available for travelers as well as power ports throughout the airport both before and after security, with many different areas to plug in laptops and get work done before a flight (or charge up phones and peripherals). One airport services the Boston area: Logan International Airport (BOS), located in the East Boston region three miles from downtown Boston. Logan International Airport has a four terminals. The public transportation available from Logan is via multiple bus lines. Taxis, Limousines, Uber, Lyft and car rental services are all available to travelers.

Practical Information

Travelers who are flying from Atlanta to Boston do not need a passport, a regular government ID will suffice (such as a driver’s license). Travelers who do not have a valid government ID (their ID is expired, or they do not have a photo ID) are allowed to travel, but require extra screening as well as ID verification by the TSA at security.

In the winter the temperature differences can be extreme, so be sure to bring a heavy coat if flying to Boston from Atlanta during these months.

Boston is a large city, with many transportation options ranging from public transportation via bus and light rail to livery services to Uber, Lyft, Sidecar, and taxis.

Overall, Boston is a more expensive city than Atlanta with regards to transportation, living expenses, and restaurant prices. A meal for two at a mid-range restaurant in Boston is roughly equivalent to the same meal in Atlanta.
