EgyptAir is one of the world’s longest-running commercial airlines, nearing 75 years in existence. Currently the airline is the flag carrier for the nation of Egypt and has routes to 75 destinations around the world. It was dramatically impacted by the revolution in Egypt in 2011 and has been working it s way back to the profitability it saw prior to the revolution that ousted former President Hosni Mubarek.

As EgyptAir airlines is an international carrier with routes that are also regional in nature, the airline boasts a wide range of aircraft among its fleet of 52 vehicles. There are four Airbus models and four models of Boeing aircraft among the EgyptAir stable, with passenger capacities ranged from a little more than 100 passengers up to nearly 350. EgyptAir possesses 10 Airbus A320 and 321 aircraft and 11 Airbus 330 craft, and also has a stable of Boeing craft, namely 21 737s and 10 777s.

Why Fly With EgyptAir

Baggage Allowance

Most international EgyptAir flights have a baggage limitation that is common with many other airlines - no luggage should be larger than 62 linear inches and no heavier than 70 pounds. Those in First and Business class are allowed to check two pieces of luggage that meet these weight and dimension limits, and have two carry-on bags that weight up to 17.5 pounds each. Economy Class passengers are allowed one bag to carry on the plane with two checked bags.

Frequent Flyer & Loyalty Program

Since 2008, EgyptAir has been a member of the internationally recognized StarAlliance, which features 21 of the world’s top commercial airline carriers. When EgyptAir joined StarAlliance, it was the first Middle Eastern airline and second from the continent of Africa (South Africa Airlines) to join the Alliance. What this means for passengers is that most benefits of frequent-flyer programs on any StarAlliance airline will be honored by EgyptAir, and EgyptAir benefits will be honors on any other StarAlliance airline. This can mean huge mileage accumulations for those who travel internationally.
