The Airports in Madrid and Rome
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD), commonly known as Madrid-Barajas Airport, is the main international airport in Madrid. Located 11 miles northeast of the city, the airport is the largest airport in Europe by size and the sixth busiest. Madrid-Barajas Airport has four passenger terminals that are linked by transit buses. Multiple airlines offer connecting flights from Madrid to Rome, including Air France, British Airways, KLM, and Lufthansa. You can also find nonstop flights from Madrid to Rome from five airlines:

Two airports serve the city of Rome: Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) and Ciampino Airport (CIA). Nearly all flights from Madrid will arrive at Leonardo da Vinci International, also known as Rome Fiumicino Airport. FCO is located 16 miles southwest of Rome and has three terminals. International flights from Madrid will arrive at either Terminal B or Terminal C. From there, you can get to the city by train or taxi. The Leonardo Express train departs every 30 minutes with a 30-minute travel time. If you'd like to save money, you can transfer to the city's metropolitan train. You could also take a taxi directly from the terminal. Be aware that taxis in Rome are white.
