Leaving Fort Lauderdale
Fort Lauderdale airport is primarily set up to be reached by car, and has ample parking to provide for travelers in need of short term and long term stays. The parking garages are organized by a convenient light system, so you can quickly locate where the free spaces are by looking for the green lights. Public transportation options include Broward County Transit (BCT) buses – Route 1 will drop you off outside the airport’s Rental Car Center (Stop 7). You can also connect to the airport with the Tri-Rail commuter train, which goes from Miami-Dade County, Broward County, and Palm Beach County to the Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport Station located at Dania Beach. From there, a free shuttle bus will take you right up to the airport.
Arriving in New York City
Upon your landing in New York City, you’ll find that you will have plenty of options to get to where you need to be. New York City traffic can be stressful, especially during rush hour, so many New Yorkers choose to take public transportation to get around. If you fly into JFK, you can get into the city with the AirTrain, subway, the NYC Airporter bus, or a number of other city bus lines with stops in the Airport. Newark Airport, though within sight of the famous Manhattan skyline, is actually located just inland, in Newark, NJ. From there, you can grab the Newark Liberty Airport Express train or AirTrain Newark, both of which link up to Amtrak and New Jersey transit trains. If you’re looking to head farther afield, there may even be a bus going there – buses from Newark even go to locations in Pennsylvania.
