Making your way to Los Angeles International Airport
LAX is gigantic, with nine big terminals spread out into a horseshoe shape. We recommend giving yourself at least two hours before your flight to find your way around. The LAX Transit Center is located in Parking Lot C and is served by many city bus routes and shuttles. You can take the Los Angeles Metro Rail to the Green Line Station and connect to the airport via a free shuttle bus. There’s also a Flyaway Bus Express Service, operated by Los Angeles World Airports, which serves multiple routes in the LA metro area.
Arriving in Phoenix
Phoenix is a boomtown made good. As it prospered and grew, it overtook many suburbs, and the result is a massive, diverse, and somewhat sprawling city which spans a full 516 square miles. A car is a must, as is a solid game plan: it’s easy to end up spending way too much time driving between attractions.
One of the must-sees include the Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park, a 1,500 year old archaeological site left by the Hohokam culture which is just minutes from the airport. Hands-on exhibits and three galleries offer an incredible window to the past.
If you’d like to look at something a little more recent, the Phoenix Art Museum has a refreshing focus on contemporary work. For hikers, you’ll be delighted to know that Phoenix has its own mountain range within the city limits. Slather on the sunscreen and take on one of the 11 major peaks!
