Making your way to Atlanta Hartsfield

ATL tops just about every list as busiest airport in the world. Unlikely as it may seem, it is an enormous hub for the entire country. The size of this airport (and the ceaseless streams of passengers roaming its concourses) can be a challenge, but both the layout and the staff are efficient, and a little advance knowledge can save you a lot of time.

Seven parallel concourses are sandwiched between two main terminals, one for domestic travel and one for international flights. You can travel between all the airport buildings on the free rapid Plane Train people mover, so if you know where you’re going, getting there is a snap.

If you decide to drive to the airport you’ll need to pay close attention to the exit signs off the various interstates: each terminal has its own entrance and getting it wrong can bite off an infuriating chunk of time. It’s also possible to reach ATL by public transportation. The (MARTA) city rail system and various buses connect to the airport. We recommend the city rail route if possible. The trip from downtown is a quick 20 minutes, and trains run every 15 to 20 minutes between 4:45 am and 1 am weekdays as well as 6:00 am to 1 am on weekends. Fare is $2.50

Chicago is also famous for comedy, having raised up some of America’s most famous and beloved comics at institutions like the Second City comedy club.
